Donating Our Preloved Books

You may have noticed that our giveaways over the years have not just been about discount codes – but about getting our preloved books rehomed to children and schools who really need them.

We wanted to give you more information about what we mean when we say our preloved books so here goes…..

As a through-the-post book rental subscription service, our members pay a monthly fee to receive high quality reading scheme books to be delivered to their door. When they have read and enjoyed the books at home, they send them back to us in the pre-paid return envelope provided, we send them new titles to enjoy and so on (swap don't shop!) The books we send are in fantastic condition, but wear and tear does happen once they have been swapped out multiple times, so we then ‘retire’ them from their life as a book in our book swapping subscription service.

However, these books are still in very good condition and can still be enjoyed by children up and down the country on their reading journey. So, from time to time, we like to donate them, whether that’s to schools in need of giving their library a boost, local children or competition winners.

These ‘preloved’ or ‘retired’ books range from book bands pink to lime and beyond and include all the schemes we stock (Collins Big Cat, Rigby Star, Oxford Reading Tree, Floppy’s Phonics, Collins Big Cat Phonics, Bug Club, Alphakids, Engage, Treetops, Phonics Bug, Project X and Pocket Reads)

So do keep an eye out on our social media for these giveaways as it may be an opportunity to win a stack of books for your school.
