"Reading Chest has been a completely transformative experience for my son. I had one quick reader - his elder sister - and was at a bit of a loss with a little boy who just couldn't get on with his school books, and was evidently falling behind. It's taken a good few months, but the excitement of getting books in the post - and of the lovely colourful charts and stickers, not to mention the certificates for achievement - has done the trick! He reads fluently now, and with real enjoyment - something I'm still amazed by. The Reading Chest service is wonderful, and I would recommend it to anyone who feels they need to do a little bit more to support a child's early reading. SR. Read more Tell us what you think

World Book Day 7 March 2019!

Friday 1st March 2019

World Book Day 2019 is on 7th March. It is a huge celebration, marked in over 100 countries, with the aim of getting children enthused about books and reading. However, some parents are less enthused and associate World Book Day with the chore of producing a fancy dress costume rather than reading.

Children who read for pleasure are much more likely to be successful in all areas of their education than those who don’t. World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to excite all children about reading. It could be the inspiration that a reluctant reader needs to read the one great book that leads to a lifetime of reading for pleasure. So why not embrace World Book Day 2019 and make the most of all its events including dressing up! Take a look here for some inspiration www.worldbookday.com/ideas/dressing-up-gallery/

World Book Day gives schools the freedom to drop the usual timetable and focus on books and reading. Exciting activities are planned, authors are invited in, book tokens are handed out and children love it. So be prepared, get the children involved and have fun on 7 March 2019!
