Back to School Book Boost!

We are so pleased to see children back in school, and it has been lovely that many of our newer ‘lockdown’ members have decided to continue their membership as an accompaniment to their school reading.

Home schooling may be over for children, but home learning and home reading is more important than ever. As children go back to school, there will be huge differences between reading abilities within a class. Teachers’ time is going to be stretched in every direction, so it is essential that parents continue to encourage children’s reading at home.

A great incentive and boost for our young readers are the Reading Chest certificates. It has been lovely to see some of our members taking them in to school to show their teachers how many books they have read during lockdown.
Another great Reading Chest feature that may be useful for teachers to see, is the reading record - which means any member can print out a list of all the books they have read from Reading Chest. (For those who have read too many to print out, please get in touch and we can print it out for you!)

As children and parents settle back in to the school routine, we would like to offer some reassurance and advice on reading levels and book bands. For those who are curious about their child’s book band, go to https://www.readingchest.co.uk/book-bands#a to see a sample of books at each level across all of our reading schemes - Oxford Reading Tree, Collins Big Cat, Floppy's Phonics, Treetops.
